Spajić Meets Bo Li: Congratulations on Progress in EU Negotiations, Focus on Energy, Tourism and Innovative Technologies
The talks focused on the government’s new Euro Model program, fiscal policy and plans for Montenegro’s further economic development ahead of EU membership. The prime minister stressed that the government is building partners’ confidence in the upcoming reforms on the results of the Europe Now 1 and 2 programs, whose continuation will be the implementation of the Euro Model starting next year. He emphasized that improving citizens’ living standards is at the heart of government policy, and that progress in European integration must be accompanied by economic development and tangible improvements in quality of life. He said Montenegro must respond in a timely manner to the risk of population outflow and create conditions in which the opening of the European labor market is matched by stronger incentives to remain and work in the country. Spajić expressed his conviction that focusing on investment in energy, tourism and innovative technologies is important for addressing longstanding current account deficit issues. The meeting confirmed both sides’ readiness to continue, through close cooperation, developing measures that link rising living standards with the sustainability of public finances.
