Annual Report of the Office for Personal Data Protection for the Year 2025

The publication contains a summary of the work results and the most important topics the Office addressed over the past year, primarily in three main pillars of its activities – personal data protection, enforcement under Act No. 110/2019 Coll., the Office's Chair Jiří Kaucký stated in its introduction: "In recent years, personal data protection, along with privacy and cybersecurity, has become an integral part of public debate. It is increasingly evident that supervision and sanctions alone cannot be the only effective tools for protecting privacy; equally important roles are played by prevention, methodological support, and systematic education of all those who work with personal data, as well as those whose personal data are involved." The Chair of the Office (pictured above by Zuzana Bönisch) further pointed out that after a quarter of a century since its founding, the Office finds itself at a significant crossroads. It is compelled to address increasingly complex and exposed cases with a substantial impact on the rights of data subjects, which places high demands on the expertise, quality, and capacity of the Office. The number of complaints and initiatives increased by more than 68 percent year-on-year, reaching the highest level since the enforcement of the General Data Protection Regulation. I believe that in the coming years, the Office will continue to fulfill this role independently, with high professionalism and respect for the fundamental values of democratic society."
