Foreign states may attempt to influence the parliamentary election
The Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET), the Danish Defence Intelligence Service (FE), and the Agency for Social Security (SAMSIK) have, in connection with the parliamentary election to be held on the 24th, observed that the US's expressed desire to take ownership of Greenland has led to the spread of misinformation and disinformation regarding the Kingdom of Denmark, which could create uncertainty related to the upcoming election. Denmark's extensive political, military, and economic support to Ukraine, including Ukrainian weapons production on Danish territory, has for some time increased Russia's focus on Denmark. It is possible that Russia will carry out influence activities in an attempt to exploit the election to promote Russian agendas, including creating division and weakening support for Ukraine. According to the US security strategy from November 2025, the US aims to support movements that challenge the current political direction in Europe. This is coordinated by the inter-ministerial Taskforce Influence, which currently includes the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Social Security and Emergency Management, Naalakkersuisut, PET, FE, SAMSIK, and the Police Authority.
