Ibrahimović – Betel: Support from Luxembourg a strong encouragement for Montenegro's European path

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović met today with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, and Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, who is on an official visit to Montenegro. Ibrahimović expressed satisfaction with Minister Bettel's visit, stating that it confirms substantive political dialogue and friendly relations between the two countries, which are continuously developing in the spirit of mutual trust, shared European values, and NATO alliance. He emphasized that Montenegro remains committed to implementing reforms and fulfilling obligations from the European agenda, expecting that the current results will be recognized through continued closing of negotiation chapters and maintaining a credible enlargement policy based on individual merits. The interlocutors exchanged views on current international and regional developments, reaffirming full alignment of Montenegro and Luxembourg's positions within the framework of the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy, as well as their joint commitment to preserving peace, stability, and the international order based on rules. Minister Bettel praised Montenegro's progress on its European path, especially the reform achievements in the negotiation process in the areas of rule of law and justice, considering them an important confirmation of Montenegro's dedication to European values and standards. He reiterated that Luxembourg strongly supports the EU enlargement policy based on results and individual merits, highlighting that Montenegro is a positive example in the region and expressing confidence that it will continue to successfully implement reforms on its way to full EU membership.
