Herceg Novi: Detained for Domestic Violence Against Father; 10 Firearms and 251 Ammunition Pieces Confiscated from Two Individuals

Officials from the Herceg Novi Security Department, acting on a report of domestic violence, detained G.M. upon order from the State Prosecutor's Office in Herceg Novi due to suspicion of committing criminal offense of domestic violence against his father M.M. Police officers, citing disturbed family relations and for prevention and suppression of potential further violence, took measures in accordance with the Law on Weapons and Ammunition. During a search of G.M.'s apartment, they confiscated two firearms—a hunting rifle of the brand "Brno" and a pistol of the brand "Zastava"—along with a suitable magazine containing two rounds of ammunition, and 14 pieces of hunting ammunition. The firearms and ammunition, which G.M. was detained for and suspected of possessing illegally, included eight firearms—a pistol and seven rifles—of which four were legally possessed with valid permits, while the permits for the other four had expired. According to the new Law, police have the right to confiscate weapons and ammunition immediately if there is a report or suspicion of endangering family members' safety to prevent potential tragic consequences.
