Report on Monitoring Popillia japonica

Japanese beetle Popillia japonica is classified as a priority harmful organism, i.e., a quarantine pest whose presence and spread on plants in Montenegro could cause significant losses in agriculture and the environment, posing a major risk to Montenegro. Monitoring is carried out by setting up specific pheromone traps and regularly inspecting them for the presence of Popillia japonica, as well as inspecting fruit and ornamental plants. At the same time, visual inspections of plants in nurseries and garden centers (fruit and ornamental species) were conducted for symptoms of damage caused by the adult beetle. The pheromone traps were checked from June 23rd, and almost no insects were caught. No characteristic damage caused by the adult pest was observed on the inspected plants.
