Police officers of the Bijelo Polje Department prevented a suicide – saved a woman from drowning
Officers of the Regional Center of Security "North" – the Bijelo Polje Department of Security saved a human life yesterday. The Bijelo Polje Department of Security, upon receiving a report that a woman was in the Lim River in the Nikoljac settlement in Bijelo Polje with the intention to commit suicide, immediately dispatched the Intervention Unit of the Bijelo Polje Police Station with a line supervisor. Through quick, decisive, and professional action, the police officers promptly pulled the woman out of the river and prevented her from drowning herself, thus saving a human life. After a successful rescue operation, the 32-year-old woman was handed over to the Emergency Medical Service team, which transported her to the General Hospital in Bijelo Polje for further necessary medical assistance and care. The police thank the citizens who enabled a prompt police response through timely reporting, as well as the Emergency Medical Service personnel for their swift and professional reaction in saving a young life. This event once again confirms the importance of timely citizen reactions, efficient cooperation of relevant services, and decisive police action when human lives are at risk.
