25 million for research on leadership and collaboration within civil defense

The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency and the Swedish Defence University signed an agreement on January 15 to fund the research environment Leadership and Collaboration for Civil Defense (LedSamCF) at the Swedish Defence University. The initiative totals 32.5 million SEK during 2026–2030, with the Civil Contingencies Agency contributing 25 million SEK and the university 7.5 million SEK. Mikael Frisell, Director General of the Civil Contingencies Agency, and Robert Egnell, Rector of the Swedish Defence University, signed the funding agreement. The investment aims to strengthen practice-oriented research that can provide immediate and long-term benefits for civil defense capabilities, in close collaboration with the agency. The research environment brings together researchers from multiple disciplines around three integrated themes, aiming to enhance the ability to manage crises, gray-zone issues, and war threats in a lawful, effective, and socially sustainable manner. This initiative will help build long-term research structures to improve Sweden's civil defense, not just theoretically but also practically.
