Public Statement
In order to provide timely and accurate information, the Ministry of Internal Affairs informs the public that from August 3rd, 2023, a total of 6,620 people from Ukraine entered Montenegro, while 6,208 people from Ukraine left during the same period. A total of 17,414 applications for temporary protection were submitted (10,062 women and 7,352 men), of which 16,106 were approved. The number of applications for extension of temporary protection (considering that extension requests are submitted upon expiry of the one-year permit) during this period is 21,919, with women submitting 12,921 and men 8,998 requests. In 2023, 4,305 extension requests were submitted and 4,299 approved, while in 2024, 5,487 extension requests were submitted, all of which were approved by April 20, 2026, when the deadline for extension expired, totaling 5,529 requests for extension of temporary protection from the beginning of the new decision on granting temporary protection to Ukrainian nationals.
