FOSDEM Talks: Running NLnet on NixOS & Hexmas
In recent years, most systems have been migrated to NixOS, with system configurations maintained in a single git repository managed using nixos-rebuild. Jos also took the opportunity to highlight the importance of the last Friday in July: 'Once a year, System Administrator Appreciation Day is celebrated, which is fantastic.' During the closing event of FOSDEM 2024, Michiel Leenaars, NLnet's strategy director, reviewed all things hex. He called it FOSDEM Hexmas: 'An event where at least X new hex sticker designs are hexdropped, and at least Y hex stickers are distributed — with X and Y being subjective.' The event would have featured fewer hex stickers without the generosity of Peter, Nico, and the Fediverse community sharing their creations.
