Open Street of Petar II Petrović Njegoš in Veliki Trnov

As part of the Embassy of Montenegro in Bulgaria's program dedicated to marking 20 years of independence, the street of Petar II Petrović Njegoš was ceremoniously opened in the historic center of Bulgaria - Veliki Trnov. The opening of the street is the result of an agreement to reciprocally honor two giants of Montenegrin and Bulgarian literature, following the opening of Ivan Vazov Street in Cetinje, one of Bulgaria's most significant writers. The Montenegrin ambassador to Bulgaria, Đorđe Janković, emphasized that he is especially pleased that this event is organized in the year when Montenegro celebrates two decades of independence and on the eve of Statehood Day - the 13th. Ambassador Janković stated that Njegoš is one of the most important writers and thinkers of the South Slavic region, whose work, almost two centuries after its creation, continues to inspire with universal messages about freedom, dignity, responsibility, and preserving identity. He also highlighted that by opening Petar II Petrović Njegoš Street in Veliki Trnov and Ivan Vazov Street in Cetinje, a symbolic dialogue between two literary traditions is established, further confirming the friendship between the two historical capitals and peoples, connected by shared European values and deep respect for cultural heritage.
