Prime Minister Spajić congratulates future rector Orović on her election

Education is essential for the future; knowledge must also meet the needs of the economy. Prime Minister of Montenegro Milojko Spajić met with the future rector of the University of Montenegro, Prof. Anđela Jakšić-Stojanović, and congratulated her on her election. He expressed confidence that she and her team would successfully implement the presented Development Programme, which would modernize the university, improve the quality of teaching, increase its competitiveness, and enhance the recognition of Montenegro’s state university within the international academic community. He emphasized that, during this crucial period for Montenegro, including its EU accession process, the university would play an important role and provide strong momentum for further reforms. Jakšić-Stojanović noted that the Government and the relevant ministry have excellent cooperation with the University of Montenegro and that, given the topics discussed at the meeting and Montenegro’s ongoing EU accession, more intensive work is expected on projects that will strengthen the university’s position in the European research area. The meeting focused on the university’s further development and stronger links between higher education and the needs of the economy. Future priorities will include jointly developing study programmes in business, business marketing, and STEM disciplines, as well as short training, upskilling, and reskilling programmes to enable faster acquisition of modern, market-relevant knowledge and skills, Orović said after the meeting.
