In the first half of next year, during Lithuania's presidency of the EU, we expect the finalization of the Accession Agreement," said Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević during a working visit to Lithuania. According to the Ministry of European Affairs, she met in Vilnius with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Sigitas Mitkus and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and member of the European Affairs Committee Seimas - Lithuania's parliament, Remigijus Motuzas. Gorčević exchanged views with her interlocutors on the final steps Montenegro is taking to close all negotiation chapters by the end of the year, as well as on the finalization of the Accession Agreement and the importance of public support for the accession of new EU members. Deputy Minister Sigitas Mitkus stated that Lithuania strongly supports Montenegro's European aspirations and has repeatedly shown willingness to share its own experience in the EU integration process. He also expressed the expectation that work on the draft Accession Agreement will proceed as planned, with a message that Lithuania, during its presidency of the EU Council, will be ready to support Montenegro in the next steps, including when conditions are met for finalizing the Agreement.
