Bečić: Our aircraft have so far delivered over 3.7 million liters of water to fire sites

Thanks to timely action, good coordination, and joint effort, the fires have been largely brought under control to prevent their spread and reduce potential consequences for the population, property, and natural resources. All available state resources will continue to be engaged as long as there is a need. Montenegro is operating with six active aircraft during this fire season. The MUP's air-helikopter unit has been intensively engaged in fighting fires across the country, with 586 air sorties in the last 20 days, during which 2,305 tons of water were dropped on fire sites. Three AT-802 aircraft carried out 475 sorties, releasing 1,425 tons of water, while the AN-32P aircraft performed 110 sorties, dropping 880 tons of water. These figures best illustrate the extent of aerial capacity deployment — the air force was over the fire sites 585 times, with more than 2,300 tons of water directed directly at the flames. Fires have also been recorded in the Šavnik area, at Krnja Jela – Bare, and in the Bar municipality at Lisinje. To improve efficiency and support field teams, the Nikšić Protection and Rescue Service has requested aircraft deployment at Bogetići, while the Kolašin Protection and Rescue Service has requested aircraft for the area of Crnog Vrha – Velje Duboko. The Šavnik Protection and Rescue Service also submitted a request for aircraft deployment at Bare. The operational-communication center 112 of the MUP is in constant coordination with relevant services and directs available capacities according to the situation on the ground.
