Ivanović with French Ambassador Umber-Buvije: Continue intensive political dialogue and strong support for Montenegro's European integration

Vice President Ivanović welcomed Ambassador Umber-Buvije, expressing satisfaction with the quality and intensity of relations between Montenegro and France, characterized by traditional friendship and strong bilateral cooperation. They discussed the results of French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Montenegro and Prime Minister Milojko Spajić's visit to Paris, with a special focus on further concretizing agreed initiatives and projects. In this context, they expressed mutual satisfaction with the signing of several agreements opening opportunities to improve cooperation, especially in healthcare and defense. Particular emphasis was placed on healthcare cooperation, including the construction of a University Clinic in Podgorica, and defense, through the procurement of two patrol boats. Ivanović highlighted that France, as one of the key EU member states and a founding member, plays an important role in shaping European policies and the process of European integration, especially in strengthening European security, strategic autonomy, and EU enlargement. He underscored that France's support is especially significant for Montenegro, given its active role in bringing the Western Balkans closer to the European Union and supporting reform processes. The conversation also focused on Montenegro's European integration, with gratitude expressed to France for its continuous support of the reform process and Montenegro's efforts to become the next EU member. The interlocutors agreed that there is room for further deepening cooperation in political, economic, security, and energy areas, along with ongoing communication and strengthening institutional ties between Montenegro and France.
