Notice to Citizens Who Filed a Complaint with the European Court of Human Rights

The Office of the Montenegrin representative before the European Court of Human Rights informs citizens who have filed a complaint with the Court that they should not contact this Office for information about their cases. According to the Convention and Court Rules, the Court only informs the Office about complaints it has taken into consideration and has communicated with the Government for clarification. The Court also informs the complainant or their representative simultaneously about the communication, so they have all the information that the Office has. Therefore, no rights for the complainant or obligations for the state arise from this, including the right to compensation or to repeat proceedings before domestic authorities. Complainants can obtain information about their case from their lawyer or directly from the Court's Registry. When contacting the Registry, it is necessary to specify the complaint number: European Court of Human Rights, Council of Europe, F-67075 Strasbourg Cedex, France, www.echr.coe.int. Please note that the Office cannot provide legal advice to complainants.
