Recommendations for Olive Growers to Perform Chemical Treatment of Olive Groves
Regular weekly inspection of traps for controlling olive fruit flies in the areas of Bar and Ulcinj (large olive grove areas – Valdanos) was conducted on 15.07.2026. Flies were caught in McPhail traps at all sites with varying numbers, and no flies were caught on yellow plates at Bar 1, Bar 2, and Valdanos 1 locations. Simultaneously, fruit samples were collected from each site for laboratory examination on 16.07.2026. The laboratory analysis showed infestation levels of 6.7% at Bar 3, and 3% at Valdanos 2 and Valdanos 4. This situation requires treatment with plant protection products, and preparations based on spinosad are recommended.
