Soil sampling conducted for potato cyst nematode (PCN) in potato production
The control of Globodera pallida and Globodera rostochiensis (potato cyst nematodes) involved soil sampling in seed and commercial potato production. The quarantine nematodes Globodera pallida and Globodera rostochiensis are monitored to confirm Montenegro's status as free from these pests and to enable early detection and prevention of their spread. Phytosanitary inspectors collected 50 soil samples from seed potato fields across different regions based on reports from registered seed potato producers, and 20 samples from commercial potato production. Soil sampling in seed production follows specific guidelines to detect the presence of potato cyst nematodes.
