Expert Support for Cherry Producer in Zagarač

The Directorate for Advisory Services and Field Control was approached by producer Miloš Ćupić from the village of Zagarač, Danilovgrad municipality, seeking expert advice on applying agrotechnical and phytosanitary measures in a young cherry orchard, as well as plant protection. The producer currently owns a one-year-old cherry orchard with 25 trees and, wishing to expand production, advisors Ljiljana Pajović and Dragana Radunović visited the farm to provide on-site support. The producer was advised on the importance of proper pruning, and a follow-up visit was scheduled for autumn, during which a demonstration pruning session will be organized to practically familiarize the producer with correct formation and maintenance of young cherry trees. Given plans to expand the orchard, attention was drawn to the importance of selecting appropriate varieties, and it was recommended that the producer consult with expert services before establishing new plantings to choose varieties suitable for local agroecological conditions and production plans. To preserve orchard health, recommendations were given for implementing adequate plant protection measures, emphasizing regular inspections, timely reactions, and strict adherence to recommended application times and methods. The Directorate’s advisory services will continue supporting farmers through consultations, field visits, and practical education to improve production and the application of modern agrotechnical and plant protection measures.
