Vučurović: It is important to improve the position of fighters and their families

Minister without portfolio, coordinator of cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities, Jovan Vučurović, discussed with the president of the Association of War Veterans from 1990. The interlocutors assessed that there is significant room for the Government to more strongly support the work of this Association in order to improve the position of fighters, war invalids, their families, and other users of veteran and disability protection. He added that through personal engagement, he will make efforts in the upcoming period to improve the relationship between institutions and the Association and fighters from the nineties and their families. Additionally, for some reason, the transfer of government funds from the budget for the work of the Association of War Veterans from 1990 has still not been realized. The Assembly concluded that the Government should use budget reserve funds to finance our association, as well as two other veterans' alliances, with the help of the minister who coordinates cooperation between the Government and the Assembly. Nikolić particularly emphasized the urgent need to amend the Law on Veteran and Disability Protection and stated that the Association of Veterans submitted a draft amendment to the Government, as the current legal solution does not adequately meet the needs of fighters, war invalids, and their families, as it does not ensure conditions for a dignified life.
