Borovinić Bojović: Our vision is Montenegro as an international student city
Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister for the Health System and Social Welfare, Dr Jelena Borovinić Bojović, together with Health Minister Dr Vojislav Šimun and representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, Mr Dragan Ćetković and Ms Marica Melović, discussed opportunities for stronger links between Montenegrin universities and international academic institutions, as well as creating conditions for renowned foreign faculties to establish a presence in Montenegro. The meeting was held during a working visit by Aleksandr Pokanevych, a representative of Kyiv Medical University, with particular attention given to academic cooperation in medicine, joint educational programmes, research and professional development. Borovinić Bojović highlighted a vision of Montenegro as an international student country where, following the example of well-known European university cities such as Oxford, Bologna, Heidelberg, Jena and Graz, a network of modern university campuses, student residences and international academic communities would be developed. “Our advantage is that we are a small country with great natural and development potential. What is a single university city in other countries could be the entire country in Montenegro. We are exploring the potential for Montenegro to become an attractive destination for students from around the world, so that our students who have not had the opportunity to study abroad can also become part of the international academic community, participate in research and gain valuable academic experience,” she said.
