Guidance for authorities on changes to the security circular

A new guidance document assists authorities in understanding how to utilize an existing security clearance when hiring new employees. Starting March 2026, authorities can security-clear a person based on a valid security clearance obtained elsewhere, eliminating the need to request a new security investigation from the Police Intelligence Service (PET). The change also allows a renewal application for an existing security clearance to suspend its expiration for up to 12 months while the case is processed. The guidance aims to help authorities understand the changes in the security circular and includes a step-by-step process for applying an existing security clearance. Authorities can contact the Agency for Civil Security at raadgivning@samsik.dk for questions regarding the guidance.
