Gorčević with delegation of the Parliament of the Kingdom of the Netherlands: Montenegro's success confirms expansion policy based on merits

European Affairs Minister Maida Gorčević today received a delegation from the European Affairs Committee of the Parliament of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, during which she presented Montenegro's achievements in the negotiation process, noting that Montenegro is the only candidate country with 16 temporarily closed negotiating chapters and plans to close all remaining by the end of this year. She emphasized that, alongside continued reforms, greater communication with member states and their institutions will be prioritized to showcase progress on the European path. The minister highlighted the importance of national parliaments in the final phase of accession, as they play a key role in ratifying the accession treaty, marking the final step toward full EU membership. She stressed that ongoing dialogue with member parliaments is crucial for directly presenting results and strengthening trust in Montenegro's reform efforts. On behalf of the delegation, Dutch Parliament member Sebastiaan Stoteler stated that the visit aims to observe Montenegro's progress in EU accession firsthand, engage with Montenegrin interlocutors, and share insights with the Dutch Parliament. The interlocutors agreed that continued open political dialogue, regular information exchange, and enhanced cooperation with EU member parliaments are vital for further advancing Montenegro's European integration process.
