Environmental Forum Held on the 35th Anniversary of Montenegro's Declaration as an Ecological State

To mark the 35th anniversary of Montenegro's declaration as an ecological state, the Žabljak Environmental Forum "Small is Beautiful" was held, dedicated to this jubilee and the year of the "Protect to be Protected" campaign. The panel "Year of Action: Results of the National Environmental Campaign" featured acting Director General of the Directorate for Innovation and Smart Specialization, Ms. Savica Vujičić, who spoke about the role of education, science, and innovation in developing ecological awareness and green skills. Special emphasis was placed on the educational segment of the campaign, which initially included ten primary schools, as well as the Eco-Schools program, currently involving 101 educational institutions – 64 accredited and 37 in the pilot phase. It was also highlighted that the Education Reform Strategy 2025–2035 and the Smart Specialization Strategy 2026–2031 together create a comprehensive framework – from developing ecological awareness and values at the earliest age, through acquiring knowledge, skills, and competencies, to their application through science, research, and innovation in solving specific developmental and ecological challenges.
