Bečić: I strongly welcome the SDT's request for the permanent confiscation of Radoje Zvicer's property

I strongly welcome the SDT's request to the Higher Court to permanently confiscate and transfer into state ownership more than 50,000 square meters of various properties, residential buildings, different spaces, garages, orchards, yards, pools, as well as armored vehicles and others from Radoje Zvicer. The fact that the SDT has submitted a request for the permanent confiscation of Radoje Zvicer's property, and that almost every day the assets of accused persons for serious criminal offenses are blocked—last year alone, about 2 million square meters of various properties and around 70 million in accounts were blocked—clearly indicates that a lot has changed in Montenegro. Nothing is the same, and Montenegro will never return to the dark era of mafia occupation. The system is being cleaned from their associates, and assets are being blocked and permanently confiscated to dismantle the infrastructure of criminal organizations. That is why the Bureau for Operational Coordination (BOK) insisted on and welcomed the adoption of the new anti-mafia law, which is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of the asset confiscation process, as immediately after indictments for serious criminal acts are confirmed, a second process of permanent asset confiscation can begin, where the burden of proof regarding the manner of acquiring the assets lies with the accused. Efficient processes, permanent confiscation of criminal structures' assets, transfer to state ownership, vetting, continuous prosecution, and deprivation of freedom for leaders and members of criminal organizations are key to dismantling criminal pyramids and the ultimate victory of the state over the mafia.
