Press Release of Deputy Prime Minister Alekse Bečić

Today marks 82 years since the crime in Velika, one of the most severe atrocities against civilians in Montenegrin history, when hundreds of innocent women, children, and the elderly were brutally murdered. With deep respect, we pay tribute to all innocent victims, with a lasting commitment to preserve historical truth and nurture the culture of remembrance. By adopting the Resolution on the Genocide in Velika, Montenegro confirmed its dedication to honor the memory of innocent victims with dignity and to clearly condemn every crime. May Velika remain an eternal reminder that evil must never be relativized, and a permanent vow that peace, freedom, human dignity, and truth will always prevail over hatred and violence.
