Employees in the social and child protection system received greater criminal law protection

At the initiative of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Family, and Demography, amendments to the Criminal Code of Montenegro expanded the scope of public interest jobs, further enhancing the criminal law protection of employees in the social and child protection system. The adopted changes now include jobs performed within public services, judicial functions, public information, healthcare, educational activities, social and child protection, as well as legal assistance before courts and other state bodies. With this legal solution, employees in the social and child protection system are clearly recognized as persons performing jobs of public importance, thereby strengthening their protection when performing professional duties. Employees in the social and child protection system work daily with children, families, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and other users in need of support and protection. The Ministry recognized the need to provide employees in this system with a stronger legal protection and initiated amendments that further value and protect their work within the criminal law system. The Ministry of Social Welfare, Family, and Demography will continue to work on improving and strengthening the social and child protection system and creating conditions in which employees can perform their professional tasks safely, responsibly, and with dignity.
