Berane: Criminal Complaint for Forest Theft; Suspect Allegedly Caused Damage to the Budget of Montenegro of About 9,500 Euros

Officials of the Berane Department of Security today, in accordance with the national priorities of the Police Directorate in the fight against environmental crime, filed a criminal complaint against D.P (62) from Berane upon the order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Berane, due to suspicion of committing the crime of forest theft. It is suspected that the crime was committed in November and December 2025, at the Crni Vrh – Rujista pass, in a state forest, where illegal felling of beech trees with a total volume of 180.2 m³ was carried out. The value of the cut timber is 9,422.15 euros, which also constitutes the damage caused to the Budget of Montenegro. Police officers continue with intensive activities in the fight against environmental crime, which is one of the national priorities, as well as activities to prevent illegal logging, detect and prosecute perpetrators, in order to preserve and protect Montenegro's natural resources.
