Recognition Ceremony for the International Eco-Schools Program in Montenegro

A ceremony was held at the Parliament of Montenegro to celebrate the results of implementing the international Eco-Schools program in Montenegro. Educational institutions received green flags and certificates of achieving the status of an international Eco-School, bronze medals, and special awards for teachers' contributions to education for sustainable development. The director of the Institute for Education, Raba Hodžić, expressed her satisfaction that they gathered again to mark the achievements of educational institutions demonstrating that education for sustainable development is not just part of school programs but a value recognized in everyday school life. Hodžić emphasized that students are not just participants in activities but become carriers of ideas and change, developing knowledge, skills, and attitudes through projects related to environmental protection, resource rationalization, biodiversity, waste management, school space improvement, and more. She highlighted that today's awards are meaningful: the Green Flag confirms that a school has integrated sustainability principles into its work and culture; bronze medals recognize schools that successfully develop and improve their activities; and special awards acknowledge exceptional contributions, initiatives, and results within the program. The national coordinator of the Eco-Schools program in Montenegro, Nevena Čabrilo, shared insights into key activities, initiatives, teacher training, projects, campaigns, and the ongoing expansion of the network of institutions applying sustainable development principles.
